Winter WonderLAN 2012

Halo: Combat Evolved · House LANister

📅 Jan 21, 2012

The first House LANister LAN, and the only one whose paperwork is a plan rather than a record. One page survives: three free-for-all games, then a 1v1 bracket between the top four to settle the doubles seeds, then 2v2, then 4v4 -- plus two drinking rules, a shot of hard liquor for finishing a game with no kills and half a beer for losing one. The 1v1 was never played. The master roster has a champion column for the free-for-all, the 2v2 and the 4v4 and none for a 1v1 -- the same signature as the events WWL 2015 and LANBQ 2015 lost -- so all eight doubles seeds came off the free-for-all instead of four of them coming off a bracket. Every tournament game was Halo: Combat Evolved; Halo 2 and NHL 12 came out afterwards, for fun, and nothing played then counted. Below the finishing orders nothing survives: no maps, no gametypes, no game or series scores, and no scoreboard was ever photographed.
