Sixteen people, four teams of four bought at auction, and a night that ran from one in the afternoon to half past two the next morning. A Rock Band tournament was written up in full beforehand -- a team-size chart, band try-outs to seed the captains, a Battle of the Bands played as best-of series so that failing a song could not end a matchup -- and it was never run. By the time the Halo bracket finished it was late, and people wanted to play it casually instead. Two other things the night is remembered for are recorded on the tournaments themselves: a blown circuit that killed a round-robin game partway through and had it replayed, and the first two tied games in the LAN's history of Halo Infinite, which arrived before there was any rule for what to do about one.
